over the weekend, Kittery Trading Post had a few reps hawking their "new" all-natural cleaning product, "Seal1 CLP Plus"

They were performing free cleanings, bring in your rifle and they'd clean it with their product, doing the hard-sell the whole time

they had a liquid and a paste, the liquid was basically dilluted paste, since I had just purchased a used '80 vintage Marlin 39A, I had them give it a cleaning, since none of them had ever worked on a 39A, I had to show them how to break it down for cleaning and lock the ejector down before running the rod from the breech

They were intrigued by the 39A and made multiple remarks about how "cool" it was, they loved the fact that it could be broken down for packing, and especially loved the "real rifle" feel and weight of it....

Anyway, after the treatment, the 39A's action *DID* feel much smoother, and it did have a nice citrus scent to it, and it's also completely organic/biological, none of that nasty naptha based GunScrubber harshness

So, just on a whim, I picked up a small tub of the paste, I want to see how it compares against RIG Universal grease for long-term protection, I think RIG will have an advantage here, but overall Seal1 isn't unpleasant to use....

It kinda reminded me of another organic gun care compound, T/C's Bore Butter, I just happen to have an almost-full tube of that as well, so I compared Seal1 and Bore Butter, they have a remarkably similar feel, consistency, and even smell, Bore Butter has a nice menthol-ish scent, Seal1 has a more citrussy smell, but with mentholated undertones, and RIG has a faint petroleum-ish smell....

I'd hazard a guess that Seal1 is basically orange-colored/scented Bore Butter.....

Hmm, maybe I should set up my corrosion test chamber that I used for torture-testing Spyderco Salt series knives and do a torture test of RIG Universal, Bore Butter, and Seal1......
