I know, everyone's season is different, but here is the summary from my neck of the woods. Starting during the first week of muzzle loading, deer were moving early in the morning and later in the evenings, with plenty of shooting light left. Three weeks later, the deer seem to be moving mid-day, and the bucks are still chasing. I've spotted several different small bucks from my stand, probably around five or six 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 year old bucks.
I shot the 8-pointer on opening day of smoke pole season, the largest I've seen in the woods.
The button buck was killed early this morning by my girlfriend using a .270. This is the last week of rifle, so I'm tickled pink that she got her one for the year. She took him at around 130 yards, perfect shoulder shot that disabled him after a quick 40 yard gallop in the Christmas trees.
I figured I'd show off my skull mount from the 8-pointer and the shoulder mount of my 12-pointer that I've taken around 3 years ago in the same field.
