I have to admit that I've reviled Ms. Brodeur over the years for some of her columns (I'm a long-time Times subscriber), but I have instantly gained some respect for her, simply because she was open to learning about firearms first-hand.

Kudos to Matthew, who's done a superb job by getting Ms. Brodeur to acknowledge that many "normal" folk own and shoot guns -- for valid reasons, such as self/home defense --, as well as getting another former hoplophobe over her fear of guns. It's a great start.

A terrific example of activism.
