Picked up my Security Six today.

It had some ugly, non-original wood stocks on it, so I was waiting for some to show up from gun broker. Grips for these "humpback" models (150-series) are HARD to find. I ended up getting some NOS Jay Scott laminate ones.

The gun was in good shape with the only detractions being the stocks, and the backstrap. It had apparently rusted and had light pitting. Somebody along the way took what looked like a wire wheel to it to take off the rust. What was left behind was a lot of bluing missing and wire wheel marks on the backstrap. I smoothed it out with sanding, and cold blued it with some Oxpho. It turned out surprisingly well.

Price before tax was $379. Gun locks up great. Haven't test fired it yet.

Here are pics.

I think those 150 series guns have differently shaped grip frame. Not t a bad thing but something to watch out for if you are going to change grips.

I had one and just used the factory stocks with a home made T -grip type adapter.

Nice acquisition! Looks pretty decent after you got done cleaning it up and the touch up bluing. New stocks are nice too.

Now the nitty gritty.. how does it shoot?

I have the stainless version of the snub security Six as well as 2 speed disc and they all shoot well (and I bet yours will to.)

The 2.75" Security Six will fit nicely into my small, but growing Ruger collection.

I have a lot more S&Ws, but I always keep an eye out for a good Ruger. I love a good Ruger .357. :)

BTW, that GP100 3" on the bottom row was the only one in the pic that I purchased new. All the rest were just lucky finds at local gun shops.

Very nice.

As you know you will NOT be dissapointed.

Have two(2) 4 inch Bicentenial Models of 1976.

One in stainless and one in blue.

Wish they would have kept making them.

Ruger security six was also my 1st revolver, so I have a soft spot for them.

Your latest Security Six fits right in quite nicely with the rest of your Ruger revolver family.

I have a 4" Security Six that looks well carried, but shoots like a dream that I picked up for years ago for $225! I can't even imagine what a lucky find that would be in today's market. Such great revolvers.
