I was just wondering who out there uses the Seecamp .32ACP and what ammo you use. This is my BUG and I have been using the Winchester Silvertip (as recommended by Seecamp) but have been hearing stories of other good ammo (CorBon, Gold Dot, MagSafe, Fiocchi). Also, which of these is the best for self protection? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Silvertips are just as good as anything else on the market and better than most. You really can't gain anything by switching except for possible feeding headaches. Stick with the Winchester. This is a self-defense gun, don't play around trying to find other loads which might give you 1% more energy.

the silvertip was the best round in .32 at the time the seecamp was designed/introduced. there are better rounds now on the market, but i dont recommend their use.

the seecamp was designed specifically around the winchester round: OAL, bullet shape and velocity. to vary from that is inviting misfeeds

When I got my Seecamp (NIB) a few years ago, I (naturally) fired the recommended Silvertips. One in four bullets would "keyhole". I talked to Larry and he said, "Go to Gold Dots". BINGO! The keyholes disappeared. I also had perfect function with the Gold Dots. I now load my Seecamp with RBCD's. I've only fired three boxes of RBCD's (60 rounds), but it's worked perfectly. All three of these brands are (by eyeball) the same length. I don't think anything longer would work.

Odd side note: Even though they seem to be the same length and profile, .32ACP Hydra-Shoks won't work.<shrug>

So it sounds like Gold Dots are the more recent ammo of choice for the Seecamp? Does anyone have any recommendations for online purchase of .32ACP Gold Dots? Thanks again!
Oh, what are RBCD's?

Where did you get that? One guy here uses Gold Dot, every one else responding so far uses Silvertip...I can safely assume that Silvertip and Gold Dot are equally effectvie in a pocket gun, and since the manual says "use Silvertip" why buck the flow...

Newer isnt always better...

PS...I have over 1000 rounds of ST thru various Seecamps and have never had a burp or a keyhole...

Thanks for your input. I had heard on another forum that the Silvertips were getting outdated and just wanted to find out what others were using. If this is not the case and the Silvertips are still great ammo, I will continue using them myself, like most of you. I had heard somewhere that the Gold Dots were a little better and more advanced but according to the majority here, that isn't true. I stand corrected. I'm still learning alot from you guys. Thanks!

Not only that, Jeff...

But (as you know :) ), RBCD's are "Non +P" rounds. Not much recoil at all.
I also use .32ACP RBCD's in my NAA Guardian.
I must be the only fella on the board who had trouble with those little Autaugas. CDNN kept telling me that they were going to send a spring which would "clear things right up". I waited and waited. Sent e-mails and had my dealer send e-mails and make calls. CDNN's answer was always the same--"We'll get it right out"! However, it never came. Finally, I traded it off to a holster maker who wanted a "mold" for Autaugas.<shrug> Some people report good service from CDNN however, I'll never buy a firearm from them again.

Well according to Kentucky Rifle's post, he talked to Larry, who said "go to Gold Dots" I'm assuming he meant Larry Seecamp, who should know what he's talking about.

I just looked at a brand new Seecamp, just received, less than 6 hours ago from the latest batch...

Stamped on the inside cover of the Manual, in red "Use only Win Silvertip"..in three other places...use "Win Silvertip"...

What part of that clear language is so difficult to understand?

Now am I gonna here that Gold Dot is gonna knock some bad guy on his butt while after being hit with Silvertip he's gonna jump up and run away.?

I guess you'd better call Larry Seecamp and tell him to stop telling folks that Gold Dots are fine to use. You might also point out to him that it says "Silvertip only" in the manual that he wrote.

Hey Wild...take it easy buddy. :) Nobody said that Gold Dots were better than Silvertips, just that in my Seecamp ST's keyholed a bit. For a reason I don't understand, GD's don't. (Someone else here [or on TFL] had the same problem and solved it the same way.) My instruction book says "Use Silvertips" too--also in red. For my particular pistol, Gold Dots just worked better. Now, RBCD's work well too. Larry Seecamp did tell me to try Gold Dots. I think that the fairly newer Seecamps will shoot more of a variety of ammunition.
Maybe that happened when Seecamp went to CNC machines. I like the little pistol very much and whatever type of ammunition that works for you is fine with me.
