Seeing an old friend

There is something special about firearms that we have personal attachments too. It really is like hanging out with an old friend. Even if they never use their inside voices.

Was issued my first M1 Garand in 1954 and have been issued or owned one ever since. Shot service rifle competition until the late '80s when my front sight began to resemble a pitch fork and my Garand languished in the safe, only to be taken out to be fondled briefly on occasion for 20 some years.

A couple of years ago a brainstorm prompted the search for an optic sight which could replace the iron sights and allow for normal clip operation. Devised a no-drill mount & mounted a FFII first, then a Millett red dot, but neither offered any magnification; then found the Primary Arms 3x32 Prism Scope.

I love an old friend. But if you ever pull an "oldie" out of the safe, it doesn't sing to you, and you can't remember what motivated you to buy it, it may be time to pass it on.
