Have these always been out there and I never noticed them till now or are they new? I'm in the market for a 1851 Navy 36. I might have to the grab one of these cut down ones.

Can the anchor be removed from the gun after the loading lever is taken out ? I'm thinking I read it can't, but not sure. If not, do you have trouble cleaning it ?

Are you refering to the Remington style?
If you remove the loading lever, the arbor will be completely removeable.

If you're refering to the Colt....I don't know what you mean by "anchor."

Really like the 1858 Remington with the 5 1/2" barrel and the color case hardened frame. The checkered wood grips are a nice plus too!

Is it me or are some of the prices a little inflated?
Must be a summer thing?

Could be the reason I've never noticed these models before. When I look at Gunbroker, I have Cabela's sale prices in my mind and haven't looked at higher priced guns.

I really like the looks of this one. I have one from Cabela's with an all-blue finish and uncheckered stocks and it feels really nice in the hand.
