With my stimulus package check arriving soon, I’ve been contemplating what my next purchase should be and would like your input.

Here’s pretty much the criteria of what I’m looking for:
Purpose: mostly fun plinking.
Caliber: preferably pistol caliber (would prefer not to rock the neighbors or send my horses running but would consider something fun and unique that I wouldn’t shoot on my property).
Configuration: pistol or rifle.
Sights: probably iron.

What I’m not really looking for with this purchase is a shotgun, a lever action rifle, a combat pistol or a revolver as I’m pretty much set with those. Of course if I run across a ‘gotta-have’ one of these my search is over, but I’m kind of looking for something a little different this time.

Some things I’m considering include: Kel-tec sub 2000 in 9mm or PLR-22, a pistol caliber AR, Ruger MK III, a single shot pistol.

Any other ideas based on what you own and like or would like to have? Would appreciate your input.

Thanks,
rt

Given your criteria, I think I'd go looking for a real nice Ruger MKII. Something unique.

I have one I sought out awhile back. It was a Lipsey's Green Box special. 4" bull barrel, wood grips. Real nice.

P.S. If you can find a MKII, get that over the MKIII. Check out Gunbroker.

Yep, .22LR.
Consider a suppressed pistol. Google a bit and you might get the fever!

I am with the others on this. I have a MK II and a Single Six Convertible and I realy like them both. I think that with the price of ammo on the rise as it is, .22's will be in high demand.

I have not used the MK III, but I have heard thet the MK II is better. The MK III seems to have gadgets to prevent lawsuits on it.

I am also stocking up on bricks of .22 ammo. Not for an end of the world scenario, but as an emergency stock in case the price gets too high in the future.

Nothing wrong with any suggestions so far.

What about a nice 17HMR with a bull barrel and wood stock?

Or for that matter a nice 22 lr bolt gun with a nice wood stock and deep blue metal. M77 in 22

I would have to scope either of the above.

For iorn sights what about a nice wood NEF in say 45 LC or 45/70.

uhhh uhhhh I know! An NEF in 22 hornet.

How bout a 36 caliber black powder rifle. (old school)

how about a 5.7?

those are hella fun for plinking and about as accurate as possible

CZ-52? Under $200, and it's a literal blast to shoot. (Might qualify as rocking the neighbors, though.)

Might also consider a CZ-82 in 9x18 Makarov.
