I have designated one of my stripped AR Lowers for use as a deer hunting rifle which means cold weather use. So I am looking for a oversize trigger guard. Since gloves are likely I am seeking comments about what brands of trigger guards will give me the most room for gloved trigger finger.

The standard flat USGI guard has the most room, when dropped down for glove use. I've also used Magpul's and Strike Ind trigger guards to good effect.

You can't beat no guard at all with heavy gloves, or especially winter mittens.

Which is what you have when the GI guard is unlatched with a bullet tip and swung down out of the way.

Takes all of 5 seconds to open it, or close it when you're done.

That's what they designed it for.

I have Rock River guards, Magpul Enhanced and MOE guards as well as a lower with integral guard.

In the future, any lowers I buy will be the Anderson with the integral guard since no need to mess with roll pins or possibly break an ear on the trigger guard.

But any of the "oversize" guards will work just fine with the Rock River style having a little more room, but as you've seen above, no need to spend any money just drop the flat guard out of the way.

There are a couple of over sized designs out there that will also swing down like the GI one. I'll need to search to find them as I don't' remember the name/s.

Oh, I see the RRA linked to above is one of them. If it isn't big enough as is, use a bullet tip to pop it open.
