I am trying to locate a quality gunsmith that specializes in 1911s and/or S&W revolvers perhaps within 30 minutes drive from Philadelphia area.

Any suggestions of where to go, or whom to avoid are appreciated. If you have a first-hand experience, please let me know. I want to find a good place to take care of my handguns.

I appreciate your help! :)

My experiences with The Handgunner in Topton, PA. have been excellent.

They're at:

17 W. Weis St.
Topton, PA
610-682-6714

It's over 30 minutes from downtown, but it is a pleasant drive. The 'smith is the owner, and in my experiences he does very good work.

EGW in Doylestown, PA, is the place many gunsmiths send their "Oh ****, the customer is gonna kill me..." mistakes. They're highly recommended on www.1911forum.com

Phila. area gunsmiths

As previously stated EGW is one of the best 1911 shops in all of America. They are used by some of the best competition shooters around and lots of local shooters. I owned 2 of there guns, top notch in every aspect.
For revolvers the Handgunner Shop is great. I have had 5 S&W guns done there. The quality and price is excellent. Randy can do it all when it comes to revolvers with S&W being his speciality. Both places are a sure thing in getting your gun worked on. Good luck, ShooterJD

Ditto Randy Hollowbush at the Handgunner in Topton PA; I recommend him highly, I bought two guns from him, and have firsthand knowledge of his fine smith work on semis & revolvers (particularly S&W).

EGW (George Smith) in Doylestown is also excellent and highly recommended, but his backlog is VERY LONG (he has had one of mine for almost 5 mos.). Their work is top notch.

Leckie in Pipersville is also very good, and I've heard good things about John Robinson in Southampton.
