Seize the Night, written by Dean Koontz, is an awesome book for those of us who CCW. You must get past some of the far fetched caracters of the story, but all-in-all its very well writen. The entire book is chalk-full of CCW related experiences, lots of times having nothing to do with actually drawing or firing but rather little things (such as being worried that an anti might notice the "bulge"). In one chapter, the main character (who carries), is hiding from his enemy in the shadows and he is torn between leaving his pistol uncocked and staying hidden or cocking it and being ready to fight. Very suspensful but surprisingly realistic and down-to-earth. Theres also quite a few 'not so concealed' firearms moments that feature 12ga shotguns and even an uzi if I remember correctly. A VERY good read (if you like to read). I highly suggest checking it out. Now excuse me while I begin to read it for the second time. :D

I'll check it out too. I read a lot, and lately most of the books I get are from something I've seen mentioned here at THR.

*Shameless plug mode on* Of course, if more people would mention MY books, I'd have more money for guns..........*Shameless plug mode off*

I hope he's gotten past the "400 rd mag" UZI's

of "midnight", etc. :) I suppose that that could have been an error that he missed while proofing the book, tho.

I'm positive it's an error because its just not that type of book (and he's not that type of author) *IMO* ;)

I read it and wasn't too impressed. I am currently reading One Door Away From Heaven which is quite good and very funny in some parts. No mention of guns so far though.

I also like the Clive Clusser books were the hero never goes anywhere without his trusty 1911 and describes the guns used by the enemies. The Clusser books often have errors in them and have a storyline with too much hollywood--luck never fails--everything turns out all right, but are definately worth the read.

Actually I'd suspect the reason is because there were so many sold that wally world gots their hands on them in bulk or whatever and in true wally world fashion, are selling them cheap. If it really is $4 thats a great deal. The book really is worth reading. If you havn't read it SIGman then you've really been mislead. If you have, well... you're entitled to your opinion.

Maybe I like it so much because it takes place very close to where I live, so it's sort of a fantasy that I can relate to having myself.

I'm making fun of the printer overruns that Wal Mart has. There is indeed a typo mentioning 400 round Uzi magazines :evil:

The books themselves are top notch....I was only commenting on the mention of the Uzi mags and the fact that my copy came from Wal Mart and I always assume they buy defects from the printer.
 
Dean Koontz is an excellent and prolific writer. I think I've read most of them and they've all been good. Many of the characters are odd but they are armed one way or another.
 
I liked it. It got a little wierd at the end, but interesting nonetheless.

"Life Expectancy" is another super duper pro-CCW Koontz book, where the main couple carries and practices and uses their weapons.
 
Dark Rivers of the Heart reads as though it could only have been written by a gun-toting, conservative-leaning, libertarian.
