Self Defense? What will the state say?

It is going to be interesting seeing how the State moves on this.

Is it self defense? No, not by what I have been taught. Did the perp deserve it, yes. Is the shooter in trouble....you bet, even in Texas.

What would you have done?

I would hope that I would have had my carry piece. During the threat of, and the actually knife assault, the perp would have had a much worst day.

i disagree.

the article made it sound like the bg was trying to escape, the homeowner grabbed his rifle and came back... then bg came at him again where he caught 3 bullets.

i call it a good shoot.

After reading the article again, I had misunderstood one of the quotes.

What do you think about Dunn going into his home to get the rifle; after the knife assault? Will a prosecutor feel he was out of harms way and to go back into the garage was inviting more trouble?

Still going to be interesting to see how it is handled.

Dunn is very lucky not to have been killed. Motivates me to carry all the tiime as you never know when or where something bad is going down.

Most likely the DA will take it to a grand jury and the grand jury will no-bill.

If the state didnt have the "castle doctrine" then he would be in trouble. In Texas nothing will happen to him.

The man has the right to go into his garage armed, no matter what the preceeding events were. Bad guy attacked him again. He defended his life. End of story.
