Certainly they were made in their day in both single and double action only. Does anyone make for sale in the US today a self indexing pepperbox? Is there some legal injunction against them?

Hoppes .36 Pepperbox

As far as I know, there aren't any self-indexing pepperbox reproductions currently being produced.
However I found a THR post which led me to research a 6 shot Hoppes .36 pepperbox reproduction from the 1970's that should be self-indexing.

Pictured is a minty one with 3.5 inch barrel from a 2006 auction.
It was listed as having an estimated value of $125 - $250.

I found this same model currently for sale online at a gunshop for $850 if you can believe it.
Keep searching and maybe someday you'll find one with a reasonable price tag. :)

Thanks articap,

At least I now have some idea of what to look for. I somehow missed the thread on my cursery search.

I PM'ed commygun about his pepperbox.
Since it's a collectible, he hasn't fired his.
Here's an excerpt of what he had to say about how it indexes:

It is nicely made though the internals don't have quite the same quality as the externals. Both of mine had the same fault. Not sure of the correct firearm nomenclature but there's a fragile pin that the spring which turns the barrels pushes against. In both of my guns the pin had broken just from the hammer being cocked repeatedly. Easily fixed by drilling out the broken piece and replacing the pin with a piece of old drill bit and JB Weld. At least that's how I fixed mine.

years a go i bought a kit,it was a 4 shot,real simple,as far as i recall.it had to be a simple kit,Hell if i could build it i knew it was simple,It was a eithen allan,or allen,what ever it was,it was double action only,the hammer didnt have a spur,You just pulled the trigger real hard,mine if i recall.was 32 cal.

the classic arms one is your only choice. And from the as available customer reivews over at dixie gun works, its really just a wall hanger. Aparently something about nipples that dont accept commercially available percussion caps and the internal parts not being quite set up for self cocking.
