Greetings! Does anybody have any experience using Sellier-Bellot FMJ target ammo? I'm currently using the 115gr. in my 9s at the range.

Any other brand recommendations? I want inexpensive (not cheap) target ammo that won't gunk up my 9s. Also, I prefer 115-124gr. ammo. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks.

Ive used it in severa rifle and handgun chamberings had had very good performance from it. The only problem load I've see is the .45 apc ball. It performed fine but the primer pockets are too tight for large pistol primers. I don't try to reload the cases. I haven't had that problem with any other rounds.

Thanks mec

I started using it because that's what they sell at the target range. After a conversation with the owner, Jeff, I now get it by the case. If it ain't broke I won't bother trying to fix it!

Anyway, I'll check back here later to see if any other members have any experiences (good or bad) they'd like to share. Thanks.

Yes.

Me and a buddy ran a few boxes through his 1911 and it cough, choked, and gagged on damn near every magazine. You name it too, failure to feed, failure to eject, stovepipes, everything but misfires. Ran through a box of WWB without a problem before the cheap crap and 2 boxes of Speer after without a problem.

They also had a very nice habit of feeding a round into the chamber, not going fully into battery, then not ejecting. You would have to rack the slide 5 or 6 times before it would finally eject the round.

We scratched that brand off our list...

Never had bad experiences with S&B. I've run a few boxes of it in 9mm through various pistols. My Glock 17 ate S&B as the first 3-4 boxes I ever fed it. Not a hiccup at all and it shot really well. Actually, I was disappointed when I ran out of ammo that day because I really like the pistol. (And still do when I put some time in shooting it.)

My problem is I can't get decent prices on the stuff around here or even find it reliably. So I mostly use WWB 9mm. Have also tried UMC 9mm from Dicks at 5.98/50 and have some Blazer Brass to try out next time I go shooting.

If it works, use it! Like I said, I wish I could get the stuff more readily around here.

Works fine for me in 9mm. I can also find their .25 ACP for $6 a box of 50 locally, and that's a LOT cheaper than anything else if you have one of those to play with. (Though the jetfire I use that in will rapid-fire eat anything without a hiccup, so I really can't judge on pickier guns!) Comes in a tiny little plastic-racked box, too.

I also actually kind of like that their shotgun shells are transparent, so you can see what type of shot's in it without having to turn it to and fro to read markings.

Modern S&B is good stuff - shot my first batch of those l'il 25-round boxes with painted red primers around 1988. No problems ever.

IN 9MM and 40 S&W its been great stuff , but in 357 SIg it has been a horror story . Nothing but multiple FTF , sometimes I would have to run a round through 3 times before it would fire .

I have several hundred rounds of S&B .357 Magnum. So far it's been OK; I haven't shot alot of it yet. The .357 doesn't perform as well as premium ammo out of a longer barrel, but I got it for practice, not performance. For the price I'd say good deal.

It's good ammo,I use it in a .32 I have, but very hard to find. Forced to use the internet.

Mike in VA--Where do you find your supply?

+1 for S&B, I use it in my .44mag shoots straight and the brass reloads ok as well, in fact I've just bought another 100 cases of it to get me by.:)

Had .45 S&B without a flash hole. Had to hammer the gun open to get it out. the primer had enough force to wrnkle the case and jam it tight in the chamber.

That was the 5th and last .45 S&B I've fired.

Having said that, I don't personally know of any other failures with S&B ammo.

I like! I have used a bunch of it. It can be a little hotter than say WWB but I really like it.

S&B

Never had a function problem with it. The primer pockets run a little too small, and require a twist or two of the ol' deburring tool before I can seat standard primers in'em...which is a minus. Other than that...no complaints.

There are .45acp S&B lots out there which have a weird out of spec extractor groove that 1911s don't like- Beware!

I shoot it in my 9mm, 45acp and I love the .223 in my AR. I've never had a problem with it. I'll knock on wood. Try natchezz.com they usually have frequent sales on the s&b as well as cci. Take a look at the magtech, it is brazillian made. I've had good results with their fmj and their carry ammo (golden gaurdian).

I've shot a lot of the .45ACP in my 1911 and in a buddy's 1911 and a lot of the 9mm in my CZ 75B and my buddy's CZ 85Combat with no problems. Accurate and no problems. I like the stuff though there is other just as good inexpensive ammo out there if you don't like it (I love Fiocchi, until recently with the .40S&W stuff I had good experiences with 9mm and .45ACP WWB).

i've used it spareingly when aVAILABLE IN CHEAP LOT IN THE GUNSHOPS..i buy whatver boxes of variuos calibers..it shoots fine and never had any issues with it..it's good enough for target practice for me..

I've run a few cases of the 9mm, both 115 and 124gr thru my pistols without a problem. And I've also used their 38spl, 7.62x39, 7.92x57JS, 357magnum, 303brit and 7.62x25. Several hundred of the 1st two.

i've shot a few thousand rounds of their 9mm without a problem. i usually buy whatever 9mm FMJ is cheapest at whatever store i'm at. S&B, WWB, UMC, and American Eagle are usually what i use at the range, depending on what i can get cheap. they all seem to perform identically.
