If I want to sell a gun to someone in another state, instead of shipping to their FFL, can I drive into their state, meet the buyer at their FFL and do the transfer there?

Yes.

Sometimes, licensees won't transfer a gun that came into their bound book by anyone other than another licensee. You might check to make sure the FFL will do this transfer before you make the drive. Maybe call him yourself rather than taking the buyer's word for it.

This applies to "mailed" or "shipped" guns.

I've never heard of the transferor being refused in person (think about it, the reason that FFLs give in refusing shipments other than from other FFLs is "I don't know who it's from". If the transferor drives there, you'd think s/he'd have at least one form of ID).
