I am wondering if anyone knows of any rules that prohibit selling reloading supplies just components (not powder or primers and no loaded ammo) from a backpack as a person walks around?

Thanks

Being from Illinois myself, I've been to a hundred gun shows and set up alot there too. When I set up, I sold reloading supplies. If your just walking around, I would say thats fine. At the shows I go to (Kankakee, St. Charles, Wheaton) people walk around with signs advertising their gun(s) they have for sale. Some folks carry their gun around with them, and some put it in a case and wait for people to ask.

I picked up a revolver from a guy that I'd put money down on, and it was in a case. Nobody questioned me, but I did get alot of "What's in the case, buddy?" and then they would ask if it was for sale/to see it, but not about its legality whatsoever.

I would say yes, you can sell stuff out of a backpack just walking around. If you really have mixed feelings, call the show organizer and ask.

I can't speak for IL. But here in TX all you would have to do is put a sign on your back to advertise it. If its not Primers or Powder (just leaves brass and bullet?) I don't know why thery would be restricted.

Or better yeat, post an add here and save your $7.00 and time at the show?

Why would powder and primers be restricted any more than the brass or bullets (except for shipping, of course, but we aren't talking about shipping)?

"It seems to me that selling anything out of a backpack at a gun show would be rude."

Not at all. I had gunshow tables for some thirty years. I was always happy to see some guy in the aisle offering something for sale; I might want to buy it.

Depending on state laws and gunshow rules, anything legal to sell to anybody can be sold by an attendee. It's just part of the why of a gunshow in the first place. Buy, sell, trade. To and from dealers. Between dealers. Between attendees.

Free market, caveat emptor...
