I have a semi auto marlin 60SS three times since we bought it at christmas it has had jams were we had to take the thing appart Any ideas about how to stop the jaming?

What kind of jams is it having that causes you to actually disassemble it in order to clear the jam? I may not be able to answer your question even with that info, but no one will be able to answer it definitively without that needed info.

All the best,

Does it fail to feed?

Casings fail to exit?

if it is a feed problem you might want to try some different ammo. I have a model 60 and it runs fine on Remington Golden Bullets. But it does not run good on Federal in the bulk pack.

Have you done something like over-oil it? Too much oil can cause trouble.

the problem is that ounce i fire the the bullet is that the next shell gets stuck im using a 500 round box of federals

Last weekend I had the same problem with the 500 round box of federals. Luckly I had a some remingtons and had no problems at all in my model 60 marlin. I guess the federals are for my single 6.........

Have a marlin 60 that did the same thing heres what you do

1. get rid of the sucky federals get a box of remington golden bullets I buy a 550 round bulk box a wal-mart for 9.00 can't beat it.

2. get a can of ether like they use on diesel engines to help them start real cheap can get it for like 2.00 at a local store around here. spray the action all over while working the bolt and get all that unburt powder an lead residue out oil it all over in side and wherever the ether touched because it leaves the surface extremly dry and clean of all oils and lubricants or it will start to rust and it will work fine.

3. do this winever the action starts to get slow or feal gritty i do mine about every hundered rounds or so whatever works best for you and your gun.

It should work fine now unless the problem is with the gun and not with needing to be cleaned. hope this helps:evil:

Have the right ammo, keep the weapon clean, use the proper lube on it or buy a 10/22 Target model and then you can only use one or two types of ammo, it's picky.

This is still really unclear to me. Do you mean the next round fails to feed? If so I cannot imagine why you would have to take the rifle apart to clear that, therefore my confusion. Is it that the fired shell casing fails to extract from the chamber, thereby not allowing the next to round to feed into the chamber? Or is it something else? Maybe you can take a picture of the problem next time it happens, and post the pic here.

Don't assume that anyone here has the right answer for you unless you fully explain the problem in detail.

All the best,
GB

funny about ammo

The Fed's won't work right in my Model 60 but the Remmys won't feed in my Savage bolt rifle. The Remmy's work in the 60 and the Fed's feed in the Savage. Any of them work in the Ruger single six :)

My 10/22 feeds the federals, just get a misfire now and then. The stuff is really crappy primed. CCI mini mag works in EVERYthing I've put it in. It's my go to if the cheap stuff screws up. :D Different .22s have different appetites and Federal is not appreciated in a lot of 'em.

the only other possibility is the ejector wire, is not bent enough. If you take it apart, and take the action out of the receiver, you will see a very stout wire, coming off of a coil, pointing right down into the chamber area. Take a pair of needlenose, and right at the end, past where it sits in the little notch on the side of the action, bend that tip a bit more up and inward, more sharply into the chamber area. the tip of this wire, is what ejects the round out to the side.

Are you using the Federal Champions or the value pack?

My 60 doesn't like the solid lead Champions, but will work fine with the copper plated value pack.
