In a letter to the editor in the Spring 2012 issue of the Garand Collectors Association Journal, Hinrik Steinsson of Iceland writes:

"The 'Communist' government in Iceland is putting forth new gun laws which outlaw all semi auto guns. If this bill goes unchanged through our congress, then they might confiscate all the semi-auto guns I have. I can never see that they will pay me actual value in compensation. I am considering selling my gas trap rifle before this happens. Mine is not complete, but it is original. If I list it on Gunbroker, can I list a copy of our article in the GCA Journal there?"

Hmmm...

Been a few years, but I used to correspond with a hunter there...

He was into shooting seals from shore, and having his black lab retrieve them...

I can not imagine that suddenly the island has become 'Anti'...

The citizens of Iceland have the government they deserve.
Yeah I dunno about that.

Do we deserve ours?

Governments nature is to expand and to consume. I've never stolen from my neighbors and claimed their belongings as now my own.

The founders knew this and attempted to craft this nation with the proper checks & balances, everything they did only put it off for so long. ..and here we are.

This is odd, since the Icelandic government are the only nation so far to tell the IMF to get stuffed, and shrug off the kingpins of global socialism, like Henry Kissinger. During the attempted shakedown of their treasury they arrested Sigurdur Einarsson, former chairman of Icelandic bank Kaupthing, along with Ivar Gundjonson, Landsbanki bank. Icelandic police also raided homes of other bank principals.

Icelandic gunowners should appeal to the same majority in Iceland who resisted these global commies pointing out that in addition to reducing them to economic slaves, the same ideological elements wish to disarm them as well.

Absolute 100% truth. And it applies to topics far broader than what we discuss here.

I was speaking with a champion competitive steel challenge shooter last year. He told me that when he competes over in mainland Europe, he selects nonstop flights and worries about the plane possibly having to make an emergency landing in Iceland - supposedly Iceland has completely banned all handguns, and he'd be automatically arrested for possession of the item, even with the scheduled stops and/or aircraft exigencies taken into account.

I do not think he need worry; between an aircraft (or ship) and customs is a sort of limbo. As long as he does not attempt to import them, actually pass through customs with them, he should not be subject to arrest. The Icelanders are reasonable people, I am sure that if he had an overnight or other short stay they would hold them for him with receipt until departure.

"The citizens of Iceland have the government they deserve."

Does that mean we will have the government we deserve when the present administration, if re-elected, confiscates our guns under United Nations mandate?
