I am building a 500 yard bench rifle.
Pretty much settled on the calibers, 243 AI and a 6.5 SAUM.
Win 70 for the 243, rem 7 already in SAUM.
32" palma hvy contour is bought.
Now the questions - scope power?
I already have plenty of hunting rifles and like the 3x9 for that - I have a fixed 12x Leupold and am wondering if it would be decent to 500 yards.
Also have a few 4200 6x18 and 6x24 not installed on anything at the moment.
I think ( but don't know ) since there is less going on in a fixed that would be the way to go, but I don't know.:banghead:
Rifles are going to both be fast twist for heavy VLD bullets, not wanting to get a 1/4 inch group at 500, but would like sub moa. I already know I can do that part, but the equipment question has me wondering.
My ring purchase kinda hinges on the scope choice.
Advice really needed
BTW - Kelbly hunter class stocks are pretty sweet.
