Hillary just oozed arrogance, fakeness, and canned answers as usual.

Oh-drama had his typical well practiced facade of confidence.

Gravel showed some personality and some realism (which galls the above two)

Kucinich stopped being interesting very quickly and I like a guy who goes up against long shot odds and sticks to his principles. I think it was his holding up the copy of the constitution after trashing the 2nd amendment that lost me.

Biden is evil (esp about the 2nd amend), but he's interesting to watch, has a few good ideas, and comes off as tough.

I'm sick of that ambulance chaser's hair and his annoying accent. Him taking a 5 minute pause and being unable to say who his moral compass is was perfect. He probably WANTED to say "the dollar."

What makes dodd think anyone likes him for his ideas is a mystery.

While Brian Williams tried to get gun control going as part of the debate, I think the candidates wanted to talk more about their opposition to the Iraq war and support for some form of universal health care.

"Semi pro gun" makes it sound like we are settling for C rated candidates now. Or is that just the best you can do from among a gaggle of Democrats?

Bill Richardson is not substantially different from any Republican candidate on the gun issue. And he is better than some of them.

As far as I can tell there is nothing he supports the Bush does not already support.

I would say that richardson is better than most SERIOUS republican candidates.

But I did note that he did kind of dance around the issue a bit, since so many D voters are anti's....

He would be good VP material for the Dems, especially on an Obama or Gore ticket. He wouldn't matter on a Hillary ticket, since she has no hope of winning.

Bill Clinton was pro-gun and in good standing with the NRA before he became President...and we see how that went.

I've heard nothing from Richardson to date that makes be believe he's any different. Only as pro-gun as he needs to be to stay in current office.

Bill Richardson signed the New Mexico concealed carry license bill into law. That is one example of something pro-gun he has done. He is at least as pro-gun as Bush. I realize that is not much of an endorsement.

On second amendment issues I would rather have Richardson that Giuliani or Romney, but I would also rather have Hillary than Giuliani or Romney simply because I think she would have severe opposition if she proposed anything remotely anti-gun, while the Republicans would turn a blind eye to Giuliani or Romney doing the same thing.

As for 2nd Amendment rights, I think Bill Richardson is as good as anyone running in either party, and better than most. He did sign the CHL law for NM.

I thought I could possibly vote for him until I learned of his stance on a couple of moral issues that I hold higher than gun rights.

Best,
Jerry

don't kid yourself on Richardson, just do a search on some of his gun statements, before he was guv. he is a typical enlightened, le fiteist, elitist, who , though he can carry , by sheer intelligence quotient, you may need to be restricted, in various ways, you see, because, you cannot be trusted to do the right thing with them, all the time.

My problem with Richardson is he supports universal health care (socialized medicine), which is a very bad idea.

My bet is that Richardson won't make the final cut before the primaries.

That's too bad for Democrats, because he's probably the only one in the field of candidates now who could draw votes from conservative-leaning independents.

If the Democrat machine had recruited him for a run in 2004, I'd bet that he could have beaten GW. But the Clinton machine didn't want a Democrat to win in 2004.

"Governor Richardson, you are currently the NRA's favorite presidential candidate from either party..." and he smiled. I like that.

I'm actually in favor of some measure of basic preventative healthcare. Not subsidized heart transplants - more along the lines of once-a-year physicals. Blood pressure, cholesterol level, STD checks, etc.

The "Who has owned a gun?" moment is at the end of part 4 of the debate:
