I got my Sample Ballot today and it shows Sen. Boxer as running unopposed.
How can we ever win when we don't run a pro-gun candidate against her??
I would rather run a candidate that loses, even badly, than let her just set back and not even have to spend her money to get elected.
I will write in someone if I can find a write in candidate, otherwise I leave that spot blank.

Added: I just realized this is the Democrat election, not the general election, so there would not be a Republican candidate.

Desertdog,
Why not run for that position yourself?

You'll be in no danger of getting elected and having to actually do anything, but you might get enough of the vote as a complete newbie to the political scene to humiliate Boxer.

Just a thought.

Not known, no money.

I just realized this is the Democrat election, not the general election, so there would not be a Republican candidate.

That is really, really, really pathetic. I think she could be easily beaten if someone with the name recognition of Howdy Doody ran against her even though he hasn't been around for 50 years. Seems like a RINO like Riordan could beat her if he ran. He wouldn't be much better for the 2A but at least I wouldn't have to see her butt ugly face on TV anymore.

Is your sample ballot just a Democrat primary ballot? Boxer is every bit as disgusting as Diane Frankenstein.

I would almost move back to CA for the privilege of voting against Sen. Boxer.

Kaloogian will get some support from me.

I guess I will have to read things closer before I start a rant.
This is the Democrat primary sample ballot, to my wife, who is registered as a Democrat. She still votes they way I want her to.
I guess my Republican ballot will arrive in a day or two.

Sen. Boxer is running opposed

"She still votes they way I want her to."

How do you know? Do you get an absentee ballot for her and fill it out yourself? or are you in the booth with her while she punches out her ballot?

On the republican side, there's an even ten running in the primary for her job:

Rosario Marin

Bill Jones

Bill Quraishi

John Van Zandt

James Stewart

Tim Stoen

Toni Casey

Howard Kaloogian

Danney Ball

Barry Hatch

Anyone have any comments on any of the above?

And then there's this ...

Pro-gun Stalwart Ahead in Polls
-- Rico Oller has Lead in Open Seat Race

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund Alert
8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22151
Phone: 703-321-8585 / FAX: 703-321-8408 http://www.gunowners.org

February 13, 2004

A poll released on Thursday shows the campaign of Rico Oller, a
California State Senator running for an open congressional seat, with a
growing lead over his two rivals.

The three candidates are locked in a fierce battle leading up to the
March 2nd primary in California's 3rd Congressional District.

Sen. Oller is a champion of gun owners' rights, and he is an avid
sportsman and hunter himself. He is also "A" rated by Gun Owners of
America, based on his voting record, his leadership on the gun issue,
and his answers to the GOA Questionnaire.

The other candidates, former Rep. Dan Lungren and political neophyte
Mary Ose, steadfastly refuse to answer the survey. Not surprisingly,
the two would like to conceal their anti-gun positions from voters.

As a congressman over two decades ago, Dan Lungren was one of only 40
Republicans to vote for the original Brady bill, which at that time
contained a 7-day waiting period on handgun purchases. He also
co-hosted a 1992 fundraiser for Jim Brady and the Center to Prevent
Handgun Violence.

Most significantly, as California's Attorney General in the early 1990s,
Lungren single-handedly laid the groundwork for a gun registration and
confiscation scheme. [See http://www.gunowners.org/a011304.htm for a
more detailed account of Lungren's attack against gun owners.]

Mary Ose is, plain and simply, trying to buy a seat in Congress. "I'll
spend whatever it takes," she said.

Though she has no record on which to run, Ose has been endorsed by the
Republican Main Street Partnership, a group consisting mostly of
left-leaning anti-gun Republicans.

It is no surprise, therefore, that the recent poll shows that "Rico is
the choice of conservative voters who dominate the Republican
primaries," especially among gun rights supporters.

The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, shows Sen. Oller with
32% to Ose's 22% and Lungren's 19%.

Though Sen. Oller is in the lead, this race is far from over. The other
candidates are pouring tons of money into the race for last minute media
buys.

It is vitally important for gun owners from across the country to get
involved in this race now. Even if you do not live in this district,
Rico Oller will be fighting for your gun rights in the U.S. Congress.

So please, if you have not yet contributed to the Oller for Congress
campaign, I urge you to do so today.

Your contribution of $25, $35, $50, $100, or even $2,000 (the legal
maximum) will ensure that Sen. Oller has the resources to compete with
the anti-gun forces in the last days of this campaign.

To contribute online, go to http://www.ricooller.com/contribute.html
and make as generous a contribution as you can.

If you prefer, personal checks can be made out to "Rico Oller for
Congress" and mailed with the reply form below to:

Rico Oller for Congress
P.O. Box 279581
Sacremento, CA 95827

The election is just over two weeks away, so please get behind Rico
Oller today!

Sincerely,

Larry Pratt
Executive Director

OK, here's what's up:

Boxer is unopposed in the Dem primaries. At the "main event" this coming November, she'll be up against whoever wins the GOP primary.

The top contenders there are Kaloogian, Jones and Marin - and ALL THREE have been saying good things about RKBA. Both Jones and Kaloogian have prior pro-RKBA voting records, while Marin was first a Mayor and then cabinet-level so it's harder to judge...but I'm being told by people that know her that she's the "real deal" on gun rights.

Of the three...well, they each have thing to recommend them. Kaloogian was the guy who started the Davis recall, gotta love that. Rosario Marin may have crossover appeal to the Latino community. Jones...hmmm...he's always been our friend, and probably should have been the guy who went up against Davis instead of Simon.

Kaloogian has been endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus as being over-all the "most libertarian" so he's prolly my first pick, then Marin, then Jones, but with NOT a lot of separation and I'll gladly support whoever.

---------------------

The GOP primaries for Congressional district one pits Dan Lungren (boooo, hisssssss!) versus Rico Oller (YAY!). Oller is just way cool, can't say enough good things about him. The last serious attempt at shall-issue in the Calif legislature was '97, and Oller was the bill's author. They don't come any better.

The district in question is VERY Republican, so basically whoever wins the GOP primary will take the whole thing in November after mopping up some unknown Demo twit.

I heard Toni Casey on a local radio station a week or so ago.
I liked what I heard.Called her HQ and asked about her stance on RKBA.
Was told shes pro 2A.

I emailed her campaign, and have yet to still get a reply. This is what I sent...

Hello ex-Mayor Casey,

It was a great to be able to listen to you recently on KGO on the Ron Owens show. I was unable to listen to the whole show and call in for some of my questions so I'll ask it here.

-What is your stance on the Assault Weapon Ban of 1994 that is set to expire on Sept 2004? Would you be up for renewing it, or should its expire as other Republicans have tried to repeal it in 1996?

-Instead of asking for the $58 million back for California in the Senate, that you spoke of that California sends to the federal government, wouldn't it be better to not have sent that $58 million (billion?) in the first place? Wouldn't that just mean another round of well-deserved tax cut for Californians?

Thank you for your prompt reply,
