I can't find any information on this "special" model, only the new sf II dominates the internet searches I can perform... and I'm interested in buying one from a guy locally.
Can someone please tell me if the barrel length is adequate to take advantage of 7mm magnum? Is it a good model? If it was good, why did they make an sf ii?

The first several years of production they were called Sendero Special. There is nothing different about it than other gen 1 Senderos. It will be early production and probably we'll built. The only thing to watch for is bore condition.

All the Senderos I've owned were good shooters. I think they all have 26" barrels in all calibers offered. So yes they have enough barrel to take advantage of a 7mmRM. I've owned 2 in 7mm and they both shoot under moa easily. My only hesitation with a used one would be if the bore was shot out.

To answer your second question, the SFII is just a more tactical style stock and the stainless with fluted barrel. I think the SFIIs look a little nicer.

A late friend of mine had one in 25/06. Incredible rifle that was MOA or better with just about any load he could cook up. I have a Varmint Special in 308 from the same era and it's a half MOA with Federal GMM, when I do my part.

As others have said, if the bore is good it should be golden with a load it likes.

I am pretty sure my sendero (25/06 like above) is a special model. I think it was the fluting they did on them that made them special. Mine is older now, I think the second year they came out. It has a fluted barrel, mcmillian stock and a few other oddities straight from the factory.
