seniors and guns

Well it was the "children" and now in the past 10 days I have seen on tv
and read articles about seniors purchasing guns.

In the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry they "suggest" doctors
and children of seniors protect there patients/family from suicide by
removing the access of guns by the elderly.

I guess the idea is go after each group until they hit the right combination.

However if someone wants to take my 89 old mother's smith from her it could
cause some grief, I know I won't be the one.:D
 
A very common suicide tool employed by seniors is prescription drugs (which they have reserved for that purpose). I wonder if the AJGP would recommend taking away their meds. Perhaps they should recommend more family involvement in general in order to reduce suicides.
