My next planned money pit is to buy a serious scope for my PTR-91. I'm looking at the OIR line, and would like to maximize this rifle as a precision shooter, but I don't want to go overboard. What magnification should I limit myself to? I'm not planning on making this a designated marksman platform, but as close to a long distance precision type platform as I can get considering the source.

Thanks.

6X42
1" or 30mm tube, doesn't matter.
I bought a decent scope, 6X42X1" from CDNN for about $40.00.
The mount and rings will cost you more than the scope.

I picked up a Leupold Mark 4 PR the other day for my Remington 700. For $389 it seemed like a good deal. It has the Leupold gold ring lifetime warranty and has micrometer style target turrets.

The mildot reticle version costs $100 more than the standard duplex reticle but it sure beats shelling out $900-1200 for the Mark 4 LR/T scopes.

Hadn't had a chance to get it sighted in yet however.

Here is Mine

Take one JLD PTR 91 Kurz barrell, add one HK scope mount and throw in a healthy dose of a Springfield 4-14x56 Illuminated reticle scope.

results? one heavy assault rifle that can shoot into 1" at 100 yards.
