So what little we know is the shooter had 1 or more 9x19 mm handguns and boatload of magazines.

So taking into consideration that the great majority of those shot by ANY handgun round tend to live and that is with shots to relatively vital areas. How is it that one guy with a 9mm handgun KILLS 32 people. I can see killing a few and wounding lots of people but to KILL that many folks is almost a statistical anomoly. So was the shooter extremely well trained? Is there any evidence that he lined folks up and executed them?

I don't ask these questions out of disrespect for the dead, wounded or their families I just want to know what went wrong, where and how? How does one maladjusted pathetic waste of a human being manage to do that kind of efficient damage? The death toll just seems so abnormally high to me, not that a single death would have made things any less tragic.

So what are folks hearing?

Good question. How does some kid from China that has only been here a little while acquire not only these firearms but the skill to murder so many people so efficiently? What kind of background did he have? If he acquired these skills after he arrived here who trained him?

And the two hour interval between shootings....something doesn't make sense....is the media confused or lying?

It makes me wonder if there were more than one gunman and whether this Chinese kid was one of them or not.

Consider he had the doors chained shut. Sheep in a pen are like fish in a barrel. It doesn't take much training or effort here to be "efficient."

Sounds to me like he was able to blend into the student population. When the school finally went on lockdown everyone went to the nearest building. In one of them was the shooter who chained the doors shut and went on a rampage. Since everyone in there was defensless, he had free reign.

A 9mm hollow point has a 93% 1 shot kill. At close distance, you wouldn't have to be a very good shot to rack up a big casualtiy rate.

TXW................(1 post)

I want to know where you got your numbers - REALLY!

As said he had a defenseless group of victims who he lined up and shot at point blank range. They all obeyed the law and did not have so much as a pocket knife. (Local teacher punished for preparing to defend class during lockdown)
:(

They may not have had guns or pocket knives but they had chairs and desks. I can't imagine just standing there waiting to be shot. Even if they had nothing to shield themselves with and nothing to throw they could have lunged at him. Imagine trying to shoot a group of people and a couple lunge at you....the fight would end soon.

DBR... I got it from two CCW classes and also from Defensive Pistol. The number is the same in all three classes. One was a TX class, one was AZ and the defensive pistol was Thunder Ranch.

What does (1 post ) have to do with it? If you had 1/2 the firearms training that I have had you wouldn't question this one.

Is that your way of welcoming me to the board?

I'll bet that nobody rushed him.

One report said that they were trying to hide behind desks, etc., so he was probably able to just walk around, like the killer in Luby's.

Why were they doing that? Likely because that's what they'd been trained to do.

"Uhmm... Ehrrr.... May one be so bold as to inquire where the above data was acquired from?"

Sure NukemJim...see post above.

I am in no position to say "well instead of hiding and waiting to die they could have ran at him and overpowered him" but honestly he wouldn't have gotten as many if that had been done.

A 9mm hollow point has a 93% 1 shot kill.

That is just nonsense. Perhaps you meant to say a 93% one shot stop rate. Stopping does not equal killing. Several loads have one shot stop rates over 90%, but no small arm ammo has a 93% one shot kill rate.....Well, maybe a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range :)

That kind of attitude won't win you many friends here either.

"The "kid" was 24. He probably spent 6 years in the Army."

the commie chinese army.

i made a topic about this but it got locked. i even have a coward private messaging/harassing me cause i think the commie chinese might be behind this. i didn't say anything as fact. just keeping an open mind, may not be pleasant thoughts or as convenient as a lone crazy man huh?

im waiting for the day "terrorist"(can't really name the certain religious group cause no one here wants to admit it) all start shooting up small towns. yes its my "crazy" theory while i wear a tin foil cap huh.

hope im wrong though. but is it really that crazy to think there are thousands of terrorist all over america waiting for a certain day/time to go on a shooting spree?

Well, your supposed "terriorists" would be deep in the doo doo if they come around my house. Armed, trained, and (as a last resort), willing.

"Come get some" as Duke Nukem used to say.

He apparently got about a 50% kill ratio shooting a 9mm and .22 inside a school building.

Knowing this, lets examine it. How difficult do we find it to shoot a chest (or even a head) sized target from 10-15 feet away? Considering the guy was most likely a sociopath, I'd imagine his hand was as stable there as ours would be at the range. Everyone knows how your hands act differently between range time and a situation where you have to draw (adrenaline = trembling, etc), but deranged psychos like this guy probably didn't have that difference.

A while back I got to go through a SWAT training house and shoot pop up targets with a Glock 17. I imagine that if was back in that situation and each room had 10 targets, even moving ones, it wouldn't be too difficult to hit them reliably. I mean, hey, it's not like he was worried about time... in the land of the unarmed, the armed guy is king. He had all the time in the world...

:(

Gator... said "That kind of attitude won't win you many friends here either."

I'm not looking to take warm showers with you. Lighten up Francis.

You do understand the name of this forum is called The High Road for a reason, right?

When all your victims are disarmed and unwilling to fight back you could rack up the same numbers with a damn flintlock.
