Seriously NRA?

I hope those of you that take issue with the bombardment of over-the-top fundraising letters call or email the NRA at let them know. That is the way to effect change in the organization not complaining on an internet board.

On a side note, though I am glad the nominations finally went through I am disappointed that Reid didn't pull the trigger on the nuclear option. The current misuse of the filibuster is one of the things that is driving the dysfunction in Washington right now. Elections have consequences and when one is over Congress need to stop campaigning and start governing. Right now instead of sitting down and working out a solution the minority party tries to stall, obstruct, and campaign until the next election. The Senate confirms appointments to prevent a president from filling positions with unqualified supporters. Being a member of the opposite party does not make on unqualified for the position. BOTH parties do this when they are in the minority and it needs to stop. If you want to filibuster, fine. Stand up and talk until you can't talk or stand anymore and then it is time to vote.

The whole mindset of 'we need to give in to get something back' blows my mind. We have NEVER gotten anything back, only had our rights more and more eroded!

To 'compromise' is to lose. Period.

The lesson has been learned for this generation. There will be NO compromise. Innocent people being abused into "compromise" isn't really even compromise anyway. People getting nothing for their "compromise" isn't really even compromise either. When we think about it, there was never any compromise! Just a taking of rights, there was no "compromise".

Being as there seem to be some here know all the ins and outs of politics and what the NRA is trying to get accomplished, I'd suggest they run for office in the NRA and see if they can get it changed to their wishes.

You can let them know you don't like the over the top letters until you're blue in the face, but it won't change a thing.

The thing you have to understand about mass mailings like that is that they are very carefully tested, and if they continue to send them out, it is because they are producing results. They already know that the vast number of people reading them won't respond, and don't like them. But a small number does respond, and that small number is all they need for a very, very profitable and productive mass mailing.

Perhaps it's time to form a new organization who is not in bed with Washington only to make more money by creating this illusion they are doing something. Is this really how the NRA is?

That's a good idea. Why don't you get the ball rolling. Let me know when you're up and running. We'll talk.

In the meantime, I'll stick with the NRA.

If enough people complain something may change. Complaining directly to the NRA has to be more effective than an online forum.

NRA and Funding

Just as bad as AARP; It hurts to say it, but I had to quit both of them especially after what I heard about their behind the scene support for Harry Reid. We're getting ready to make a shift from one of our glorious Senators here in Arkansas. They continue to live high on the hog as does all of Washington. If they come down a few notches and listen to the bill payers I will start writing checks again without reserve.

No matter your feelings towards Reid, he has voted PRO 2nd amendment, and has a "B" rating with the NRA.

Regarding them living "High On the Hog", you would rather they hire a homeless joe for $15,000 a year who would have no idea how to get anything accomplished?

You're entitled to your opinion, propaganda, whatever.

Personally I thank the heavens that any, every, obstruction is thrown up against the petty dictators who would be King. Including the White House appointments. They're not fought hard enough to be honest. The head of BATFE's being anti-gun -- how does that make sense in any way unless you hate America? They're there to ADMINISTRATE, NOT MITIGATE AND UNDERMINE, OUR RIGHTS. The pro-gun people, Constitutionalists, AMERICANS should ACCEPT that!?

No need for responses. They are rhetorical questions to the droning serfs out there...

I have been a NRA member for years and have on a occasion made a donation, so I know I'm on their radar. I maybe get one letter a year asking for a donation thats it. How come I'm not bombarded with all this Junk mail you guys get day in and day out?

I work odd, sometimes long hours. A simple request to not call or fill my mailbox was respected...can't ask for more than that.

Something will change when their test numbers indicate it's time to change. Not before. Not because of complaints. It's all about the math.
