Wanting to get started in my local club's Service Rifle matches (200 yard only range). I have several AR's but plan to build another just for this purpose. I have an opportunity to trade for an almost new (less than 150 rounds) Colt 20" Hbar barrel in 1/9 twist. Should I pass on this and go after a 1/7 or 1/8 stainless barrel, or would the Colt do just fine?
Thanks to all.

The Colt will do for 200 yard matches and 69gr pills. I started out with one.

If you want to get into the full distance matches you will need the 1/8 tube and 1/4 min sights.

If the colt has the block in the lower, run from it.

If you're going to stay local and only shoot at 200 yards then the 1/9 is OK. BUT if you ever want to expand your horizons and shoot the full 600 you'll wish you had the 1/8.
