i just bought a new arsenal sgl20 and am wanting to put the ak74 style muzzle brake on it. where do i find one and which ones are quality?. i checked k-var and they are sold out. i noticed that there are some cheap ones available but i dont know if that means they are cheap in quality. do the quality ones have chrome lining? any help would be great. thanks.

also make sure it works like the real deal, assuming you want one for function and not for show.

The real ones have asymmetrical vent holes on the top. The cheapos that don't really do anything have two little symmetrical ports and cost maybe 20-30 bucks.

The AK74 copies are generally not worth it. A real AK74 brake is very effective in recoil reduction and controlling muzzle rise. You can tell the difference in that the original design has 3 asymmetric gas ports on the top and side, an expansion chamber, and gas slits in the front of the expansion chamber that direct the flow of gas. thanks for the info guys. now can the muzzle break be easily installed? i tried taking off the muzzle nut held in with the pin and couldnt get it off. is changing out the nut for the break something i could handle myself?

It should just unscrew by hand. Maybe someone used some thread locking compound on it, or its just seized from carbon or corrosion.

AKM type 14x1 threaded brakes unscrew clockwise. AK74 type 24x1.5 threaded brakes unscrew counter-clockwise.

no, there is a little silver spring rod infront of the site that is holding the nut in place.
