I saw that a few years ago and I was surprised too.

If you think about it, that trend makes the more restrictive states the more "backward" places, contrary to what the "enlightened" urbanites there might think.
 
yes, but with all the political change coming, how long will that last??? i wonder if i will even be able to renew next time after the coming changes.
 
No, more and more states have adopted concealed carry laws, and as your research indicates, it is shall issue, modeled after Florida's program for the most part.

It actually is spreading, and I suspect that to at least a small extent, it is due to the knowledge that people are now able to access via the internet. I feel that if people were educated and got some good experience with a firearm, there's really no way they could continue to be anti-gun, as being anti-gun is a fundamentally flawed (logically) and immature stance.

Maybe longer than you think. I have spoken to numerous LEO's at the range about the 2A... I am a member at the SLC-Municipal range, and many have told me that they would not enforce any more federal gun laws if they pass. Most of the cops here don't particularly care for the new administration. One guy told me that he would not "become a thug for the socialists". They implied that if the new government passed more unconstitutional gun bans, that they would not enforce those bans in their jurisdiction. One guy said he would essentially ignore any new federal gun laws and "let the feds do their own damn enforcement of their crooked laws". I think that even LEO's are fed up with the fed sticking their nose in everything.

I would not be surprised to see massive opposition from most of the States in the union regarding any federal CCW bans.

If you look at '94 you see a jump in the number of shall issue states. It's interesting to me that you would see that the same year they passed the AWB.

Had a Sheriff's Deputy tell me that he hoped the Feds would enforce the new gun laws just as hard as they do the immigrations law. Then we won't have to worry at all. :D

Please cite your source. I keep hearing this claim, but the thin evidence that is frequently offered has been unconvincing at best.
 
In the end it will be a cold day in hell when my county changes to shall carry.

Everybody seems to forget that the dramatic spread of Shall Issue Carry laws began during the Clinton Admin.
 
Geneseo1911, you are a good man. I personally think that Illinois should have a co-consul executive, like the Romans. But instead of a Plebian and a Patrician, we should have a Chicagoan and a person from the rest of the state. That way the one from Chicago could do things like sell senate seats and the one from "down state" could be a responsible person and fight for our 2a rights. Now I'm sure this would have lots of problems but it would give "down state" the representation it hasn't had for a while. Sorry all for getting off topic, I do it a lot.
 
That progressive map is a good teaching tool. Why is Florida always brought up as the suggested leader in progressive CCW? Pretty late in the game - by six or eight other states leading - like Washington. Anyway, two reds and a few yellows to be worked on and educated.

Not to pick on you,but what are you going to do about it. Do you belong to any Pro Gun organizations, have you voiced your concerns to your elected officials, local, state and federal. Have you solicited support from your friends and neighbors to not support any anti gun candidate that is running for office or for re-election. Send e-mails to every elected state and federal official. This is going to be a tough fight to retain our right to own weapons. This one little step in the effort for Obamanation to change the USA to the USSA, United Socialist States of America and the end to our freedom as we no it today.
