"Shall Issue" Petition for California

I found this Internet petition:

It's a state petition for a bill to make ccw licenses "shall issue" in California.

Does anybody have any experience on how well such petitions work?

I just asked this same question over calccw.com. Some guy who claims to be a law professor came out of nowhere and attacked me. I would post the thread, but they locked it. It was freakishly weird. That site is one big clique. Apparently everybody knows each other. I'll pass.

Wouldn't it be funny if someone went door to door in all of the liberal areas of CA, and had them sign a shall issue petition telling them it's to "make it mandatory for the government to give gun licenses".

Hopefully SCOTUS will make this moot. If they rule that we citizens have an individual RKBA, it would seem to me that that right doesn't end when we leave our homes. Requiring the citezenry to obtain CCW's might be viewed as a reasonable restriction, but it would seem to me to be an infringement on a "may issue" basis.

Are you TDA over there by any chance. I read where TDA opened a thread, "Concealed Carry versus Open Carry", which was rather quickly closed. It seems staff held the view, "As we deal with CCW, and the Open Carry discussions often head in directions that are unproductive, I'm locking this."

Was that your encounter ?

No, I'm not TDA. I'm jakemccoy on every gun forum. Some love me, and some hate me. I humbly submit that means I'm doing something right.

CCW at worst, should be the same as driver's license. Satisfy a residency test, background check and a proficiency test and you shall be issued. No problem.
