How would a 22 pistol be for home defence? Would you have to aim hi:D ? Or would it go thru the chest?

A .22 is not a reliable man-stopper. Plenty of people have been killed with .22s, but they usually die long after being shot. For self defense you want a gun with knockdown power, something that will disable the person immediately, hopefully with one shot. Just pick a caliber that starts with .4 and you'll be alright.

RedNEx - Haven't seen that finish on a 22/45 before. Is that something new Ruger's doing or did you have it done?

I have a Llama .22LR...it looks like a tiny 1911.
It's so kewt.

I also have a Remington Nylon 66, Marlin 22LR, Marlin 783 .22mag, a Remington 522 Viper (blegh...FTF all around...anyone else have trouble with this guy?), a Remington pump .22LR...and um.
I think that's it. ^.^

rednex, that is a cool looking gun. I like the finish on it as well as the bull barrel. What kind of gun is that?

That is not a 22/45. It is a Browning Buckmark.

Heres something better for your 10/22 its a Krinker Plinker It uses real ak parts to turn it into an ak looking thing. :D I dont know how your laws are in america but this is non restricted in canada as long as they fix the folding stock so that it cant fold. http://www.questar.ca/deals/Krink.htm

(Jtward01) "Colt Peacemaker .22, one of only six produced in the nickel finish." That is certainly one I lust after! I just started acquiring the Colt single actions in the last couple of years. Nice little guns. Still working on some of the other Colt 22 variations. If I had one of each, I would probably want to get two of each... it never stops.

I really enjoy my P22. It's a lot of fun to shoot. The only issue (and it's probably the same with all 22's) is that it gets very dirty quickly. I have heard that some folks have encountered ammo jamming but if you shoot quality ammo, you shouldn't have a problem. I always shoot CCI and have had no problems.

Enjoy.

Oh sure, why not!

As best I can recall: 1954 Marlin Model 80 C bolt action, magazine feed; 2- Remington Nylon 66s; new Stevens Favorite; M1903 Springfield M2; Savage 24C .22/20 ga; 1940 Colt Woodsman; Colt .22 Conversion Unit; S&W M18; a Sheridan Knockabout single shot top break; NM Ruger Single Six; NM Bearcat.

And every one is fun to shoot.
