Not really a question more an observation.
Growing up in England we used the term Cartridges, here we seem to prefer Shells.... i wonder why.

The few English folks I know that shoot also use cartridges, not shells. Maybe an American thing like everything else - we want to shorten the amount of syllables. :D

Bore versus gauge.
Striker versus firing pin.
Bite versus lock.
Watertable versus action flats.

The list in shooting alone is extensive. And in England "furniture" does not mean the stock.

There are endless other examples as Lee pointed out, some of them contradictory. Pavement is the road in American. Pavement is the sidewalk in England. A subway is an underground and an underground is a subway.

If in England understand that words fanny and pants have different meanings. Also look left then right crossing the road.

George Bernard Shaw observed that Americans and the English were "Two peoples separated by a common language."

Must be a cut-off point at about 1/2" when a cartridge becomes a shell?

We have used .50 BMG cartridges, and 20mm cannon shells for many years!

Although it apparently doesn't apply to .410 guage shotgun shells.

What Benelli barrels interchange ?

I am looking for a new barrel for my M1 Super 90 entry gun. I always seem to find barrels for the SBE. I have heard that SBE barrels interchange with the M1. And that SBE 2 barrels will interchange with the M2 and another model. Can anyone confirm this ?
