Evening all, not sure if this is Accessories or Gunsmithing. Mods, move as necessary.
Back story: I've been carrying a S&W Shield 9mm Gen1 for a few years. Well since it first hit the market. As a prior 1911 .45acp guy, it was an adjustment to which I adapted. I understand there's a the no thumb safety model, and mine has a thumb safety, and the thumb safety is irrelevant. Got it. Don't care. I use it [1911 guy habits don't die ;-) ]
Now: doing all the appropriate drills, including slo-mo, I miss the safety maybe 5% of the time. I call that about 4.999% too often.
FINALLY, the question: Does anybody know of a (preferably minimalist) extended thumb safety for the Gen1? In a search I've found a sort of wonky extended for subsequent models, but not the original 1st generation model. Am I missing something? FWIW, I'd gladly get a gunsmith-installed extended. Hopefully not an Armand Swenson type that sticks out 17ish inches
