Shimming sear on 91/30

Last night I shimmed the sear on my 91/30, I didn't have enormous expectations but I figured the trigger would get better. I can't tell the diff. I shimmed all the way until the sear would not engage then backed off apprx .005". What gives?

Anyone else try this with results?

Come on, half the folks here have Mosins of some variety, nobody has tried this?

Yes I have tried this. I did notice a small difference but I haven't measured it with a gauge.

Polishing the trigger group made more of a difference for me when it comes to improving groups.

I was able to play with the leaf spring to reduce take up.

Grim, here's a dumb question:
What did you polish, just contact points?
I'm trying to turn my favorite <50yd pig gun into my favorite <100yd pig gun.

Yah, just contact points. I thought I used a SurplusRifle.com tutorial, but I can't remember now.
