Shiping ammo to Illinois noob question

Ok this is my first post, if I have placed it in the wrong forum mods please move it. This may be a dumb question but can I mail order ammunition to my door step in Illinois, or do I have to go through a FFl? I am located in southern Illinois, not any where near Chicago, or cook county (thank god ).

Welcome, good question. I am in the same boat and havent tried it. With the whole FOID card issue I think it is a no go .

I live in Southern Illinois and I routinely have ammo shipped to my home. I know for a fact that Eric at www.ammoman.com will ship here.

Not being from Illinois, I couldn't really say. What I can say though , is that on the list of places that cheaperthandirt won't send ammo to .. only Cook County , Illinois is listed.

I receive ammo all the time. Midway is the only company I know of that won't ship to me....No, an FFL isn't required. (White County)

I have bought ammo from Cabela's mail order but had to fax my FOID card to them. (Lake County)

I'm in Madison County,and as stated,most places will ship as long as you fax/email a copy of your FOID.Check Ammoman's shipping info,I believe they need a copy before you can order. I haven't had any problems so far.

I know of 2 places that ship ammo to PRI withput foid card, most others need a faxed copy or a scanned copy of your foid. Many will not ship to an address other than the one on your foid.

P.S. have you seen the newest foid card. Look closely, my pick is not the one I sent in, but a copy of my DL pic. I don't know why, but this bothers me. Oh well, such is the land of Linclon.

It is perfectly legal as long as the county or municipality you live in has not banned it.

430 ILCS 65/3 (b‑5) Any resident may purchase ammunition from a person outside of Illinois. Any resident purchasing ammunition outside the State of Illinois must provide the seller with a copy of his or her valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card and either his or her Illinois driver's license or Illinois State Identification Card prior to the shipment of the ammunition. The ammunition may be shipped only to an address on either of those 2 documents.

I emailed cheaper than dirt and they do ship to Cook County, even though it is listed as them not. They just won't ship to Chicago. Most places want a copy of your FOID before they ship.

I'm just relating what was said to me in an email correspondence with one of their customer service reps. This is exactly what it said.

- Signed copy of your Federal Firearms License (FFL) (The FFL must
be signed in ink and mailed to us if you choose to purchase serialized
products.)
- State issued Tax Resale Certificate: Certificate must be issued

Don't know. I haven't ordered anything on line from them. I called them on the phone. Unless they changed policies since I last ordered or the guy I talked to didn't follow their policy, don't know. Last I got from them was 1K of 9mm about the first of this year.
