Shipping a Gun back to the Factory

Just curious about this since I have never done it before. I hear that I need to pack it up in front of them?

WHo is more firearms friendly in regaurds to shipping? UPS, Fed-Ex, Mail Boxes Etc., ???? What paper work do I need with me when I ship it back? Any other usful info you could give me on this?

And one more thing, howmuch does it usually cost tos hip and insure?

You can get the rifle shipped right back to your door when you are done, right? Thank you!

I ship by Federal Express: there's an office not too far from my house, and I never state what's in the package and leave the "dangerous contents" box unchecked. U.P.S. has been practicing ugly anti-Second Amendment bigotry the past several years, so it's my shipper of last choice.

Not unless things have changed in the last year or so.

The last time I needed to ship a gun in, the pack-n-post type places wouldn't touch it. I took it straight to the local UPS office. I explained that it was an unloaded gun, going to the factory for service. They did not give me any grief about it. I did not have to repack it for them. It had to go next-day, but the lady saved me a few bucks by suggesting a "next day saver" (afternoon deliver) rate. That, plus $400 insurance, was around $32.

Other than the cost of shipping, not too painful.

Handguns must be sent by UPS/FedEx/AirborneExpress/etc, unless you're an FFL, then you can mail handguns. Normal rate for a handgun is $30-40ish for UPS/etc, or $15-20 for USPS Priority Mail

Longarms can be mailed by anyone or shipped UPS/FedEx/AirborneExpress/etc. USPS Priority mail is almost always cheaper than the private companies.

I just shipped a gun off to a Wilson's about a month ago for some custom work. Sent it UPS, next day air. UPS requires next day air for handguns. I ensured it for I think around $1000.

After the work was done, they sent it back by UPS also.

I have not had any problems with UPS.
