Factory Return Shipping Insurance "?"

This just occurred to me... I sent my rifle back to Ruger for a repair. I paid for the shipping to them and of course insurance. My question, when they ship it back, I assume they will have some kind of insurance on the shipping as well. Or not? If so, what $ amount do they assign to item? (I was going to direct the question to Ruger directly, but being a weekend I don't know when I'd get a reply.)

I wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt insurance. I really dont know, but if there was a problem, Ruger surely would just replace your rifle if it was damaged in return shipping. Ruger is very good as far as customer service.

Obviously I haven't talked to all the companies out there, but I have talked to more than a couple and they seem pretty consistent.

They do not insure their returns to you. It just doesn't make economic sense. The number of losses or damaged shipments is very small compared to the number of items they ship...it is more fiscally efficient to just replace items lost or damaged from their stock on hand.

This holds true for FFLs who ship a lot also
