Shipping a T/C frame to factory?

If you bought it from a gun shop I would take it back to them and let them ship it. They can always send via USPS.

If you are doing the shipping it depends if the Encore is a rifle or a pistol (& yes I know barrels and stocks are interchangeable; I have a Contender).

If it is a pistol it has to go via common carrier (FedEx or UPS). If it is a rifle it can go USPS and I would leave the stock on just so there is no issue with the legaility.

I've had to send my Contender frame back twice to T/C and always use FedEx.

Since T/C is a licensed manufacturer, you can ship it to them yourself, and they can ship it directly back to you.

As mentioned above, if it's a rifle or shotgun you can use USPS, if it's a handgun you must use a common carrier (UPS, FedEx).

Possible long gun?

Can it be considered a rifle frame? I hear ATF would call it a short barreled rfle if I had a shoulder stock in my possesion.

If it is also a rifle frame, then I should be able to use USPS.

True, or a good way to get into trouble to save a long wait in the UPS line? The UPS in Auburn that takes guns has only a few hours a week it has the gun window open. The local UPS is a "drop off" contractor.

I'm leaming to driving it back to Locums and letting them do it It is a good excuse to visit a gun store. But the last time I went it cost me $1000 for my wife's new Mathews bow set. She is not coming.

Since it's apparently a pistol frame, that's probably the easiest thing to do.

The Encore is a pistol, and the frame and action is the part regulated by the government. Either go to your gun dealer and have him ship it USPS Priority Mail (you pay the postage and a few extra bucks), or to a UPS or FedEx distribution center and send it with their Next Day Air Saver service (required by their internal policies).

It does not apply to this particular gun, but you can send other gun parts (e.g., slides for installation of sights, barrels and such) USPS.
