The problem is that, in a move from Idaho to Connecticut (now WHY would anyone do that?), with a 2-day shipment it's very possible that the guns will arrive before our hero is there to receive them. If your friend knows someone ... anyone ... near his future home, he can ship to himself at their address, even in care of a third party. He just neeeds to instruct whoever will be receiving the guns that they are not allowed to open the package(s).
In my case, I live in a small town and have a first name relationship with the owners of the local UPS Store franchise. I could work with them to set up the shipment, but have them hold the packages for a couple or few days before they get picked up, in order to allow time for me to arrive at the destination before the guns get there. It's worth considering, but only if your friend knows he can rely on the shipping center.
