I just got back from my local Fed Ex station. I was shipping a handgun from my FFL to another FFL. After we got the paperwork squared away, I told my FFL I'd drop it off for him since I was going by there anyway.

The lady at the counter told me I'm not supposed to ship handguns in Fed Ex provided packaging. I said, "Huh, I've been doing this for years and the manufacturers and smiths I deal with do the same when returning stuff to me." She said she'd let it go this time, but in the future, I had to use customer-supplied boxes. I looked and looked on the Fed Ex website and couldn't find anything to support what she'd told me. It just says that you have to tell them that it's a firearm, which is exactly what caused me problems in the first place. I'm aware of the fact that there shouldn't be any markings on the box which identify it as a gun, e.g. Kahr Arms should be K.A.I. on the box, etc.

Now let me get this straight....I'm supposed to pay them $55 for shipping and use my own box because Fed Ex employees have gotten caught with their hand in the cookie jar? This is getting out of control.

Anybody else run into this and does what she said hold water?
