5k brass would be pushing it. "if it fits, it ships" only goes so far. They wont ship distorted boxes you have duct-taped into a soccerball.
5k loaded rounds wouldn't fit, and would be irrelevant, as you couldn't ship it anyway.
If you want what will ship in "x" box as brass, talk to YANKEE2500- you can find him in the for sale section, under reloading components and gear.

5k would be pushing the limits of LFR. I had 2.5k shipped to me a long while ago and it was i square MFR so 5k shouldbe pushing close.
Red flags will raise once USPS runs a box full of 9mm loaded ammo goes through their scanners, im sure the sending party and receiving party will get knocks at their doors. NO primers, powder, primed, or loaded ammo thought USPS system.

5k 9mm wul fit a lfrb if you jiggle shake and pack it. Use lots of tape on every edge and corner.

5000 9mm cases in a Large Flat Rate box is pushing it. Personally, I wouldn't do it because they're more prone to breakage.
FYI.....Flat Rate Box rates will go up substantially in January.

I have 4,000 right now sitting in a medium FRB in my shop, so I'd think 5K should go fine in a large FRB. Shake it some, put an extra piece of cardboard on top and bottom to keep brass from pushing through the flaps, and be sure it's all in a good plastic bag in case the sides split. It happens.

^^Tape some reinforcing cardboard to the inner sides and corners of the box and put the brass in 1-qt ziplocs, then put the bags in the reinforced box. The separate bags work wonders. Don't trust the interlocking tabs of the box to hold up--use plenty of tape.
