Went to the range this weekend and tried out a vintage Charter Arms Undercover in .38 special. I also gave my trusty RIA MS1911 a workout. Left to right: .38, .38 and 1911, 1911. All targets at self defense range of 7 yards. Not scientific, but interesting.

I own two Charter Arms Undercover 38s as well. One is from 1987, and I bought it the day I was sworn in as LE. The other is 21 years older, and was my dad's until he died in 2010.

Both are decent shooters (the newer one a little easier due to thicker, checkered stocks) and I trust them just fine.

Looks like you have reason to trust yours as well, in your hands, at least.

^^ I agree. Particularly with 158-grain stuff, they can be rude. When I carry them, they're loaded with Remington-UMC 125-grain FNEB (kind of a semi-jacketed flat-tip.) Not really harsh, and readily-available for practice.
