i am from concord and it has been a long long time since i have been there. it is a little out of the way and there are mnay people alot closer to my home town that will "hook" me up, so i normally don't travel to far.

I know they use to have a good selection of safes that is where my dad got his.

I stopped by there today for the first time in a good while.Evidently the staff has changed and the prices are outrageous.I bought a few firearms from them before, but won't be anymore.

are thier prices as bad as High dollar Hyatt's? :)

Try Carolina Hunter in Cramerton. They even have .223, 7.62x39 and .357 Mag ammo. Well they did this morning when I was there.

I bought a Tikka Hunter .223 from Hyatts last year, $357.89 out the door. Yes, it was new.

I bought my first gun from them....a SW 642. I probably paid to much, but ignorance is bliss. I have since realized they are grossly overpriced. I did though by a Mossberg 500 Tactical from them that was about the going price everywhere else. I took my concealed carry course there and will buy an accessory from time to time, but I have pretty much reglegated myself to internet purchases of most accessories and firearms. Much better deals b/c you can search the inventory of many, many places.

As for the poster that mentioned Hyatt Gun Shop, they are grossly overpriced as well but I have heard they would haggle. I bought a Stoeger Cougar from them about 2 years ago. I never saw their sticker price, but I called on the phone to see if they had one. I asked how much for it and he said he wasn't sure and asked me to tell him what they were going for. I had just read about it in a gun mag and they were going for a bout $349 at the time. I told him that number and he said ok. He put it aside for me and I went to get it the next day. Great gun, great deal, pleasent experience. I am an admitted terrible haggler, so I don't know how good I would be a talking them down in person though.

When gun shops become popular because of knowledgable service and large selection, their prices tend to rise, although big box store prices are about the same. Because of this I've looked into private transactions within the state and found several FFL transfer fees to be $20. Both the Gastonia and Charlotte stores are near $50. Using the CC permit will allow person to person purchases in-state through the FFL dealer at some savings. (I've been looking for a Ruger GP100 or S&W 620 and found both at reasonable prices.) I purchased my Ruger P345 from Hyatt's used and it is working just fine. My next purchase probably will be from somewhere else.

I can't speak to the knowledge or courtesy of the staff but I was just there yesterday and there prices seemed pretty high for the pistols they had on hand.

Try Firepower in Matthews. Just off Monroe Road, north of Hwy 51 (Pineville-Matthews Rd.), and behind Gregg's Restaurant.

I bought my XD.40 four years ago for $545.00. Their prices are very competitive. I comparison shopped at Shooter's Express & Hyatt. Firepower was the winner. Their staff is amiable.

I now live in SC and I like Nichols Store off I-77 South at 901 in Rock Hill.
