Hey guys,

I recently bought a Glock 19 gen4. I was a Sig and XD guy before this. Finally bought a gen4 Glock because sse is ending CA and I couldn't get it after 1/1/15.

Anyways, I was trying out the different grips that came with the Glock and forgot to put what I later found out to be the trigger housing pin in the grip.

I had no idea that pin on the grip would affect the gun's operation and didn't know it was the trigger housing pin. I have no idea why Glock place it where they did. I thought it was just a grip pin if anything.

This is what happened at the range when I went to shoot the gun without knowing the pin affected it. I chambered a round to shoot the gun. The first shot went off and then the slide just stayed locked back. me and my friend was confused. So we rack the slide and shot it a few more times.

The slide locked back locked back again. But on the 3rd try it shot 5 rounds without problem.

My questions is: did I damage the gun I anyway by shooting without the trigger housing pin that is located on the grip?

How come some people posted that they shot hundreds of rounds without the pin?

Thanks.

Although the G19 can be sporadically operated without the pin, I don't recommend it. If you are familiar with your Glock, I would suggest removing the slide and inspect for any damage. If you are not sure, talk to a friend with Glock experience, or consider having a gunsmith/armorer give the firearm a once-over.
