Hello all I stopped using the backstrap on my gen 4 glock 26. I didn't realize that the backstrap pin also pinned in alot of my internals in the lower and I never put it back in. I just found this out after cleaning the gun after today's range session. I'm out of town now so I can't put the pin in and this is my only gun. Do you think I'll do any damage shooting with the pin out? It's shot about 300 rounds without the pin already. Thanks for any info.

Are you talking about the plastic in used to attach the optional back straps?

IIRC it doesn't do anything other than the stated purpose.

It secures the trigger housing in like manner to the Gen3 guns. It needs to be there.

As to damage, I'd say none has occurred if the gun has been functioning as expected. Still, it might be a good idea to pull the trigger housing and inspect it for damage cause by banging around loose. Mine are all pretty tight so I'd think peening and such to be minimal, but I'd look at it closely anyway.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it will be ok as it is until I get home. I was just worried about it since its my only line of defense while I'm on the road.

look fo a gun store near by, most of them that sell glocks have a parts bin for them, they will install a pin for you and probably do it for less than $20, thats cheap for peace of mind

There's not a lot of stress on that pin, which is why it is polymer instead of steel. Since you're away from home, the next time you're at Denny's or Waffle House, take an extra toothpick with you.

I can do that lol, we eat WH 3 or 4 times a week.

Made the same mistake. Shot a few mags with lots of malfunctions before it dawned on me. No damage incurred.
