Just a question, what is the point of people wearing the yellow shooting glasses? Does it help with glare a ton, or help you see the target any better? I just grab a pair of old shades, but have been wondering if it is worth picking up a pair of these? Also, if you just get the regular tinted shooting glasses are they are better then say sun glasses? Also, if anyone has any experience with the yellow tinted ones, do they help with sun glare? I live in Arizona, where the sun seems to be everywhere this time of year.

Yellow is supposed to increase contrast in hazy conditions. People will tell you they brighten the image and should not be worn in bright light but since they cannot do anything but filter out some of the other colors that is not strictly so. I wear them in all conditions for pistol shooting. I have some purplish glasses that I wear for shotgun and rifle shooting. They make the orange clay pigeons show up well and are the right Rx for rifle; my yellow glasses are ground to focus on the pistol sights.

You can get a lot of different colors supposed to make targets show up better against different backgrounds. Outfits like Decot and Lehman Optical do a lot of work with shooters and lens colors.

The best approach to shooting glasses is to wear the least tint that you can and not squint from the glare. You want your pupils to be contracted so as to get the maximum depth of field. Dark sunglasses are not the best unless you are very sensitive to glare.

I like these:

You can get them with 3 lenses, Smoke, yellow, and clear for about $30. They are comfortable, effective protection, yet cheap enough that I won't cry if I have to replace lenses or end up breaking them.

In my personal opinion, the yellow lenses do magnify the amount of light I see. They are best used in low light situations where more light would help.

I have a pair of dark red and a pair of hunter green. They both work great as blue blockers. Sort of takes the brightness and glare off of everything you look at. On a really sunny day they are great.

striker very sweet looking, I like how you can change diffrent lenses. I have only been out to the range 2 times, and let me tell you it is like liquid crack! I like that you can also put in a Rx into the lenses. I was out shooing last week, and my contacts were drying out big time, when I was trying to take percice long distance shots.

The amber works

My eyes aint the best, and the amber lenses make a big difference, especially on the indoor range. The people that I shoot with who have 20/20 or better vision don’t notice a difference, but those of us with less than perfect eyesight really do benefit from them.

anyone have any more recomendations, right now I am thinking of going with the ones striker said. Some of the storys on that website, about troops over seas with these glasses/gogels are crazy.

I picked up some shooting glasses(Remingtons) from Wal-Mart or Sportsmans can't remember which, they are Vermillion(orange). I have very sensitive eyes and can't go out without sunglasses very long or I get a headache. I like these cause they cut the blue light so its not so intense.

First let me say that have some vision problems, having had cataract and laser surgery (NOT corrective, but becasue of other problems) on both eyes.

I use both yellow (really amber) or regular sunglasses. The amber really do seem to make a difference on cloudy days, as they do seem to bring up the contrast. On bright, sunny days, I use either the amber, or regular (quite dark, as I'm real sensitive to light) sunglasses, depending on which way the sun is striking the targets. Note that this is outdoor shooting, with a scope (which is the only way I can shoot, can't use iron sights because of my vision).

I think the idea of interchangable lenses is cool, may have to pick up a pair of those.
