I've been thinking about getting a shotgun just for HD for awhile now. I'm a left handed shooter and I'm not sure what is available for left handed shooters. From what I've read on other posts on this forum, I think that I need something light and that I can get on target fast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Ithaca M37's are very nice shotguns, and have a clever downward ejection system that means the gun works equally well for right or left handed shooters.

Heres one on GB.com, though the barrel isnt what id concider ideal for HD.

You could probably get away with just about any old right handed model 12 gauge as long as it doesnt kick the shells straight back. some "tactical" type right handed shooters have even found that having a left handed gun makes popping a shell directly into the chamber a bit easier when you can see it when holding the gun at ready, this would mean any right handed gun would give you the same advantage.

I'm left handed too. I find pump action guns like the 870 and the Mossberg are pretty straight (the Mossberg more so) and are easy to shoot left handed. I dont think the ejection thing is an issue whether it ejects to the left or to the right.

I have a Benelli M2 which is made left handed, shoots perfectly, can't recomend them enough.

As another LH, it won't matter. One thing to consider is that light guns plus heavy loads equals monster recoil. They're not that heavy to begin with, and the heavier they are, the easier they'll be to keep on target, especially with HD loads of buckshot or slugs.

lefty

do not oferlook the bps it also ejects out the bottom making this a weapon for left or right shooters. have got a nephew who several years ago wanted to start deer hunting, but all my weapons where standard so I purchades a bps turkey special with 24 in barrel.thjis worked fine for him and with the ashort barrel and screw in chokes this would not only work nfor hd but also you would still have a good weapon for hunting also.

The Rem 870 comes left. 12 guage with a 28" barrel. Other lengths, etc can be had.
Never had an issue shooting any firearm left handed though. Empties don't go anywhere near your head.

I shoot an unadapted Saiga 12 left-handed. It ejects forwards so there's no problems. Only thing I get is a bit of gas now and then, but not anything that bothers me. I also have a right-handed 20 gauge pump. There is, in my opinion, NO reason to own a left-handed shotgun.

Mossbergs make very lefty friendly shotguns what with the safety location. I dont care whether it ejects downward or to the right hand side. I dont and never will own a lefty gun. I prefer the Browning BPS to the Ithaca because of the safety as well.
