Shooting Rest - Lead Sled?

I am in the mood for some type of solid but adjustable shooting rest to sight rifles in with. Been looking at the lead sled, cost is around 100.

Is there anything else oout there that is durable and effective for less money?

Or is there anything else you would recommend instead of the lead sled?

I bought one (can't remember what the brand was right now, but it wasn't the lead sled), used it once, and tossed it. Get yourself a set of bags. I like these: Caldwell Bag Set.

I find the mechanical devices to be more of a hindrance than a help in the sighting in process.

As far as "soaking up recoil", if the recoil is so great that you can't even sight it in, how are you ever going to actually shoot it?
