I've never owned one, always used a backpack...but my buddy built a table on my 100 yard range (sight in range) and I want to put a rifle rest on it.

I've looked at them online for 2 weeks now and have some ideas but I would like to hear from some folks who have them or have used them.

Caldwell makes a few nice ones, I'm not interested in the Lead Sleds (I want my shoulder on the stock, cheek weld too)...just a shooting rest that is rock steady and not more than about $200.

Doesn't have to be Caldwell...those are just the ones that pop up in an internet search the most. Actually...anything that will work would be nice to hear about (rear bags and bipods, the big filled bags, etc.....anything that makes for a good steady sight in rest)

All help is appreciated :)

Sand bags work very well for me.

You can make your own out of old blue jeans legs and duct tape if you don't want to buy them ready made..

Those do work, and work well, heavy though...I used to have a set but the bags dry rotted, LOL....I kinda wanted something with adjustments though, not sure why (just in case I guess)...LMAO, I bet you're thinking "the scope has adjustments"...LOL.

Thank You for the reply!

I'm just trying to save some time and bullets...I sight in a lot of rifles for other people, and its getting time consuming...then there are the days when I just can't shoot right but still have to get it done.

We all have those days, right? I know I do....

Have you looked at the Hornady Delta Rest?

It has nine different shooting heights, and it's lightweight, perfect for sighting-in rifles. It has three different shooting heights on each of the three sides allowing you to raise or lower your line of sight in one-half inch increments. It's hollow, so you fill it with sand or something else for the weight and stability you want.
