Love my model 14s

The K 38 is the first really good quality handgun I ever owned. My dad gave me the one on the bottom when I was 16...a 14-2 with the three T's and is still in approximately 98% condition. The cost new was $72.00. From the top down the first three are model 14-3s. The first is the 8 3/8" model. Second from the top is a factory single action pistol. Third from the top is a factory re-work (star stamp inside the yoke or crane) I suspect this was a factory re-blue. All are surperbly accurate and consistently hold the X-ring at 25 yards. The revolvers that Smith & Wesson makes today don't even come close to the fit, finish and workmanship in these guns. I will be buried with these handguns!

I've always found it to be the most shootable of the smith hand ejector centerfires-a bit easier to shoot off-hand than my 29 8 3/8s and more accurate than my 6" model 27. Every one I've handled has been capable of x ring and smaller bench groups. I don't have a k 38 now but do shoot a 1947 six inch k22 and an 8 3/8" from 1991- just before all the "improvements" set in.

I got my Model 14 from Montgomery Ward in about 1970.

It has been my favorite "bunny gun" ever since. Its hard to beat .38 Wad-cutters for head shots on cottontails.:)

It is also my "loaner" when friends come visit and want to shoot the local bullseye matches.
